Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A VP serves as a leader within Gartner and within their industry, making them a trusted source of advice for clients. As the market expert, a VP not only produces innovative, pragmatic and provocative research content, but also serves as a decision-maker and leader of cross team and cross practice research initiatives. They also engage with clients directly through virtual and in-person interactions, meetings, conferences and industry events. Through these engagements, they challenge clients to reframe their thinking across key initiatives, interpret contextual realities and propose new ways to obtain data in order to diagnose and/or solve complex problems and improve client performance.
What you will do:
Develop and represent thought-leading positions on the role that technology will play in reshaping how supply chains operate, how leading supply chains capture ROI from these investments, and how effective CSCOs sell them to the board.
Become a trusted partner advising Gartner’s senior-most Supply Chain clients through day-to-day interactions and in strategic C-Level client engagements. This includes meetings, conference calls, strategy sessions and formal presentations.
Apply expansive knowledge of Gartner research to help resolve high-value business problems for senior supply chain clients, including CSCOs and Heads of Supply Chain.
Create highly synthesized content that can be leveraged and/or contextualized across the functions and roles that Gartner serves
Actively shape the direction and output of high leverage Gartner CSCO research e.g. guide and contribute to signature research by providing feedback at all stages of the research process.
Challenge and rally the organization on thought-leading research including coaching others to deliver it.
Be a ‘headliner’ at Gartner’s multi-client events, creating scripts and discussion plans for the events and leading the sessions themselves.
Enable our sales and service partners in selling and retention by demonstrating the value of Gartner research.
Build a strong external profile on all media to be seen externally as a world-leading supply chain subject matter expert.
Be a mentor, connector, leader and coach to team members.
What you will need:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties in a strategic, analytical and articulate manner. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
End-to-End. Broad supply chain knowledge including at least 15+ years of experience.
Deep understanding of technology-related topics such as influencing C-suite investment decisions, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and integrating technology roadmap into supply chain strategy.
Familiar with the current most critical concerns of Chief Supply Chain Officers (CSCO).
Experience in at least two of the following functional areas: Supply Chain Planning, Logistics, and Procurement.
Education Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience. MBA preferred.
Relationship builder. Able to seamlessly interface with CSCOs and other senior supply chain executives in a way that builds strong, lasting relationships.
Pattern Senser. Can sense patterns and trends relevant to CSCOs and effectively share these, acting as a “voice of the CSCO” to inform the Gartner research agenda and event calendar.
Excellent Communication Skills. Strong verbal and written communication.
Organized. Skilled at multitasking, prioritizing, and working under tight deadlines and high volume. Capable of working remotely and independently.
Confident. Able to make sound, timely decisions on projects with minimal supervision.
Ability to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levels of client organizations
Analytically Savvy. Critical thinker with analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
Travel. Be able to travel up to 15-20% of the year including attending 2+ Gartner conferences per year
