We are seeking a Municipal Credit Research Analyst to support growth in tax-exempt assets under management. Based in Newport Beach, CA, the Analyst will work in a dynamic environment alongside Portfolio Managers and other credit Analysts. While focused on Municipal assets, you will be part of our global research team, collaborating across asset classes and with Portfolio Managers. Responsibilities
Cover one or more sectors within U.S. public finance, focusing on high-yield asset classes. Develop financial models emphasizing debt sustainability and credit analysis. Analyze political and policy impacts on credit fundamentals. Report on tax policy and municipal issuer accounting changes. Provide investment recommendations to portfolio managers. Proactively communicate investment ideas. Produce reports and presentations. Engage with clients or client service teams as needed. Collaborate with other firm areas, including corporate credit analysts, to source cross-asset investment ideas. Position Requirements
5-15 years of relevant public finance credit analysis experience, including work at buy-side/sell-side firms, federal agencies, or municipal treasurer offices. Experience with municipal high-yield assets and distressed situations. Knowledge of sectors like MSA/tobacco, dirt deals, assisted living, student housing, charter schools, retail. Strong academic background; MBA, JD, CFA preferred. Deep understanding of fixed income products, including tax-exempt and taxable. Solid skills in fixed income mathematics, statistics, or economics. Ability to assess credit, risk, and valuation judgements. Market knowledge for appropriate analysis depth. Ability to work independently and make decisions with limited information. Excellent communication skills—written and oral. Passion for long-term credit analysis career and portfolio contributions. Benefits
