The position is remote,

but finalists will need to attend an on-site interview in Eugene Oregon, with travel expenses reimbursed by OCCU. Additionally, occasional on-site visits may be required, and these costs will also be covered by the employer.

Position

OCCU is hiring a Senior Developer for its Software Development team! This role develops, integrates, and supports third-party solutions with OCCU’s software using best practices. The position requires efficient task management, adaptability to changing priorities, and initiative in identifying additional duties as needed.

Responsibilities

Collaborate on research and best practices for OCCU solutions and third-party integrations. Contribute to the design, implementation, integration, and support of a universal data infrastructure. Support the maintenance and enhancement of current database and software systems. Document workflows with a focus on third-party control points. Develop and maintain database packages, ETL processes, and queries. Apply Scrum methodology through tasks such as story writing, sprint planning, daily updates, and progress reporting.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least five years of practical or academic experience. Proficiency in database queries, data structures, stored procedures, and relational database design. Experience with large, high-volume systems; familiarity with performance tuning, scaling, web development, and modern full-stack programming languages. Strong customer service skills, analytical abilities, and effective communication. Experience in financial or regulated industries is preferred. Enrollment in (with completed database coursework) or completion of a four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience is required.
