The University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Social Work invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Director of the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program for our accredited DSW program. We seek a proven leader with strong clinical practice experience, who understands the needs of working MSW-level practitioners, and has a background in online education. The successful candidate will advance the College of Social Work’s mission and vision. The Director of the Doctor of Social Work Program has primary responsibility for managing day-to-day programmatic activities for this online program, including admissions, curriculum development and implementation, student advising, faculty teaching assignments, program assessment, and compliance with accreditation standards. The DSW Program Director establishes and maintains effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders and promotes the School’s connection with the practice community through engagement with relevant professional associations at local and national levels. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of university practices and processes, sound judgment and decision-making skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and the ability to create a vision and provide leadership for the DSW Program. The candidate must hold a doctoral degree in social work and meet the qualifications for appointment at the appropriate rank. The position may be located on the Knoxville campus, the Nashville campus, or work remotely. This is a 12-month position. Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in Social Work or related field; MSW from a CSWE-accredited program At least five years of experience as a clinical social worker and/or in social work management Strong record of university-level teaching, including graduate and online teaching Excellent written and verbal communication skills Evidence of scholarly or applied expertise in at least one content area of the DSW Curriculum Demonstrated leadership in the social work profession (e.g., leadership in agencies or in social work education) Commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive climate for students and researchers Preferred Qualifications PhD or DSW in Social Work Experience in doctoral education Experience in academic administration Commitment to interdisciplinary research and collaboration Experience with innovative teaching methods and curricular development Additional considerations may apply for associate or full professor ranks, including demonstrated excellence in teaching across modalities, a strong publication record, and leadership in program initiatives and accreditation processes.
