The primary responsibility of the water resources project manager is to provide in-house leadership and guidance on water resources services, deliver projects related to stormwater for clients, and grow the external visibility of HDR’s Stormwater Program. This role acts as a liaison and coordinator across staff, offices, and disciplines to deliver projects and proposals with innovation and standards alignment. The manager will work with project engineers to prepare planning and design-level documents, develop drainage reports and contract/bid documents, and collaborate with other design disciplines to provide integrated solutions and business development opportunities. The position includes project leadership, production support, and business development responsibilities across municipal and utility stormwater programs in Missouri and Kansas.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate water resources projects, including stormwater planning, design, and master planning. Prepare planning-level and design-level documents, drainage reports, and contract/bid documents. Collaborate with other design disciplines to deliver integrated solutions and advance business development opportunities. Manage projects and provide production support for multiple HDR services and stormwater programs. Identify and execute HDR services needed by municipal and utility stormwater programs in the Missouri and Kansas markets, including internal services. Participate in capturing planning processes and drive business development opportunities. Assist with recruiting and participate in professional organizations and conferences. Foster relationships with local water resources clients and professionals; drive regional water resources initiatives. Lead comprehensive stormwater management and master planning; understand state stormwater regulations and manuals. Apply asset management tools and design water resources facilities, including floodplain mapping, storm sewers, BMPs for water quality, and watershed planning. Apply hydrologic and stormwater/drainage modeling. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering 10 years related experience Minimum 5 years project management experience Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng) MS Office and MS Project experience (Access a plus) Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture Preferred Qualifications

PMP Certification 10+ years of experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design of drainage and stormwater projects Experience in development and management of diverse teams Experience with hydrology, hydraulic/drainage design, and stormwater facility design software Excellent leadership, communication, listening, and presentation skills Ability to function as a leader and active team player in a diverse multidisciplinary environment Experience liaising with and coordinating staff at all levels Our beliefs and commitments: HDR is our company, and we value inclusion and belonging.
