JobPurpose We are seeking a Sr Manager of Product Design with a strong background in digital health applications to lead the design vision and strategy for our healthcare-focused product portfolio. This role will oversee the creation of intuitive, accessible, and trustworthy user experiences for mobile apps (iOS and Android), web platforms, and emerging digital health interfaces. The ideal candidate is a visionary design leader with deep expertise in designing HIPAA-compliant, patient-centered digital health solutions that balance clinical accuracy, regulatory requirements, and exceptional user engagement. You will lead a talented design team and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver impactful products that improve health outcomes and user trust. Responsibilities DesignStrategy&Vision : Defineanddrivethedesignvisionfordigitalhealthproducts,ensuringalignmentwiththecompany’smissiontoimprovepatientcare,providerworkflows,andhealthoutcomes. Developacohesivedesignstrategythatprioritizesusertrust,accessibility(e.g.,WCAG2.1compliance),andcompliancewithhealthcareregulations(e.g.,HIPAA,GDPR). Advocateforpatient-centeredandinclusivedesignprinciples,addressingdiverseuserneeds(e.g.,patients,caregivers,clinicians)andhealthliteracylevels. TeamLeadership&Mentorship : Leadandmentoramultidisciplinarydesignteam,includingUX/UIdesigners,researchers,andinteractiondesigners,fosteringacultureofempathy,innovation,andcollaboration. Setclearobjectives,provideconstructivefeedback,andsupportprofessionalgrowthforteammembers. Recruitandretaintopdesigntalentwithexpertiseindigitalhealthorrelatedfields. End-to-EndDesignOwnership : Overseethedesignprocessfordigitalhealthapps,fromuserresearchandpersonadevelopmenttowireframing,prototyping,andhigh-fidelityUIdesign. Createandmaintainscalabledesignsystemsandstyleguidestailoredtohealthcareapplications,ensuringconsistencyacrossmobile(iOSSwiftUI,AndroidMaterialDesign),web,andwearableinterfaces. Designintuitiveinterfacesforcomplexhealthcareworkflows,suchastelemedicine,patientmonitoring,electronichealthrecord(EHR)integration,ormedicationmanagement. Healthcare-SpecificDesign : Conductuserresearchwithpatients,clinicians,andcaregiverstounderstanduniqueneeds,painpoints,andhealthliteracychallenges. Designforsensitivedatahandling,ensuringprivacy,security,andtrustareembeddedintheuserexperience. Ensurecompliancewithhealthcareregulations(e.g.,HIPAA,FDAguidelinesforSoftwareasaMedicalDevice)andaccessibilitystandardstosupportuserswithdisabilities. Incorporateclinicalaccuracyandevidence-baseddesign,collaboratingwithmedicalexpertstovalidatecontentandworkflows. Cross-FunctionalCollaboration : Partnerwithproductmanagers,engineers,clinicaladvisors,andcomplianceteamstoaligndesignwithtechnicalfeasibility,regulatoryrequirements,andbusinessgoals. Workwithdatateamstoleveragehealthanalytics(e.g.,patientengagementmetrics,adherencerates)toiterateandoptimizedesigns. Presentdesignstrategiesandoutcomestoexecutives,stakeholders,andhealthcarepartners,articulatinghowdesigndrivesusertrustandhealthoutcomes. Innovation&Trends : Stayaheadofdigitalhealthtrends,suchasAI-drivendiagnostics,remotepatientmonitoring,wearables,orvoice-basedhealthinterfaces. Driveinnovationbyexploringnewdesignparadigms,suchasconversationalUIforhealthchatbotsorARforpatienteducation. Conductcompetitiveanalysisofdigitalhealthappstoidentifyopportunitiesfordifferentiationandimproveduserexperiences. OperationalExcellence : Managedesignbudgets,projecttimelines,andresourcestodeliverhigh-qualitydesignsonschedule. Implementtools(e.g.,Figma,Sketch,AdobeXD)andworkflowstostreamlinedesign-to-developmenthandoff,ensuringaccurateimplementationofhealthcare-specificdesigns. Measure design impact through metrics like patient engagement, provider adoption, and clinical outcome improvements. RequiredSkills&Experience 8+yearsofexperienceinproductdesign,withatleast3yearsinaseniorleadershiprole(e.g.,LeadDesigner,HeadofDesign,orDirector-level). 3+yearsofexperiencedesigningdigitalhealthapps,suchastelemedicineplatforms,patientportals,healthtrackingapps,orEHRinterfaces,withmeasurableimpact(e.g.,increasedpatientengagement,adherence,orproviderefficiency). Proventrackrecordofleadingdesignteamsinagileenvironments,ideallywithinhealthtech,medtech,orrelatedindustries. ExpertiseinUX/UIdesign,userresearch,anddesignsystems,withproficiencyintoolslikeFigma,Sketch,AdobeXD,orsimilar. Deepunderstandingofmobileplatformguidelines(Apple’sHumanInterfaceGuidelines,Google’sMaterialDesign)andhealthcare-specificdesignrequirements. Knowledgeofhealthcareregulations(e.g.,HIPAA,GDPR,FDASaMDguidelines)andaccessibilitystandards(e.g.,WCAG2.1). Familiaritywithhealthanalyticstools(e.g.,Mixpanel,Amplitude)andfront-enddevelopmentprinciples(e.g.,ReactNative,Swift,Kotlin)isaplus. Exceptionalleadership,communication,andpresentationskillstoinfluencestakeholders,includingclinicalandregulatoryteams. Empatheticleaderwithapassionforimprovinghealthcarethroughdesign. Strategicthinkerabletobalanceuserneeds,clinicalrequirements,andbusinessobjectives. Abilitytonavigatecomplex,regulatedenvironmentsandmanagemultiplestakeholders. WelldocoperatesinISO13485andMDSAPregulatedandHITRUSTandSOC2TypeIIcompliantenvironments.Therefore,itisexpectedthatallemployeeswillhaveeitherpriorexperienceworkinginthoseenvironmentsorwillbetrainedtounderstandtherequirementsneededtoworkandsupportthoserequirementsandcultureastheyrelatetoindividualrolesandresponsibilities. Compensation&Benefits Welldocoffersacompetitivecompensationpackagewhich,inadditiontosalary,includesgenerousPTO,medicalinsurance,dentalinsurance,visioncare,lifeanddisabilityinsurance,retirementbenefits.andtheopportunitytoparticipateinhealthsavingsaccountsand/ordependentcareaccounts.Whiletheanticipatedsalaryrangeforthispositionisbetween$110,000and$150,000/yearwiththeexpectationthatmostcandidateswillfallaroundthemidpointoftherange.Exceptionalcandidatesmayexceedtherangeifeducationandexperiencewarrant.
