The Hartford currently has an in-house opportunity for a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases focused in the Southern California area. This remote position is ideal for an experienced attorney with significant trial and litigation experience in Premises Liability, Products Liability, Construction Site accidents, and Commercial/Personal Automobile accidents. The Senior Staff Attorney will strive to deliver the best possible results in pending litigation. The attorney reports to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney or Assistant Managing Attorney. The ideal candidate is an experienced attorney with extensive knowledge of Southern California courts, considerable trial experience, and the ability to independently handle cases from inception through trial. Responsibilities: Handle complex and high exposure litigation. Analyze intricate legal and factual issues, conduct extensive legal research, and develop and present defense strategies. Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs independently. Communicate effectively with clients, claims, courts, witnesses, and counsel. Manage cases efficiently, including trial preparation and presentation. Research, draft, and argue motions. Provide damage and liability opinions. Qualifications: 7+ years of Tort experience. Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in California and federal courts. Knowledge of California courts and local legal procedures. Physically located in Southern California. Ability to attend in-person legal proceedings as required. Member in good standing of the California Bar. Experience as first chair in jury trials or appellate work. Strong research, writing, organizational, and communication skills. Technological proficiency and ability to adapt to new software. Familiarity with handling claim cases and litigation. Compensation: The annual base pay ranges from $128,000 to $192,000, based on market analysis and individual performance.
