A market-leading manufacturer is seeking a
Senior Commodity Manager
to own strategy and execution for
high-impact, global commodities . You will drive supplier partnerships, cost/cash performance, quality, delivery, and technology roadmaps while enabling
new product introductions (NPI)
and reducing supply risk. This role is ideal for a strategic negotiator who thrives at the intersection of
sourcing, operations, and engineering . What You’ll Do
Lead complex, auditable
strategic sourcing
and contract negotiations; select and steer a supply base to deliver
cost, cash, service, and technology
objectives. Build, assess, and manage
supplier performance
(quality, delivery, flexibility, total cost); conduct site audits, credit/organizational reviews, and KPI reporting. Partner with R&D/Engineering on
NPI : qualify new/updated materials, coordinate samples, and lead material approvals with Inspection/Quality. Develop and execute
commodity strategies , transitioning business to strategic suppliers and ensuring a smooth impact to customers. Set inventory targets; forecast demand swings; minimize
obsolete/scrap ; lead and expand
VMI
programs. Resolve escalations quickly—troubleshoot quality and continuity-of-supply issues to avoid interruptions and adverse costs. Monitor market, logistics, and environmental factors; brief leadership on
cost/availability trends
and risk mitigations. Ensure
trade compliance
(Country of Origin, HTS codes) and support international shipping requirements. Provide daily guidance to
buyers ; drive cross-functional alignment with Production, Quality, Finance, and Logistics. What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree
in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field. 7+ years
of managing complex procurement contracts, vendor negotiations, and sourcing of goods/services. Demonstrated leadership and supplier-relationship skills; expert negotiator with strong written/verbal communication. Working knowledge of
mechanical/electrical components , manufacturing processes, and specialized analyses. Experience with
MRP
and preferably
JD Edwards (JDE) ; advanced
Microsoft Office
skills. Project leadership from concept through implementation; domestic/international travel as needed.
