The Southern California Learning Corporation, DBA Sylvan Learning Centers Los Angeles, is looking for an energetic, pro-active, and experienced educator to become our next Director of Education, School Contracts. This is a full-time education management position for Sylvan Learning Centers based in Los Angeles, CA. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality education programs for Sylvan’s institutional clients, such as non-profits and school districts. The Director of Contract Services reports directly to the Regional Director and owner. The Director of Contract Services will build out and manage the day-to-day operations of our programs delivered on various job sites. The Director will also recruit, manage, and train various program managers and instructors who will then deliver these programs on-site. (Current or expired teaching credential from any of the 50 states or Canada, plus 2 years of teaching experience required.) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Observes and coaches instructional staff on a regular basis to ensure that teachers follow Sylvan’s Instructional Management guidelines and deliver instructional sessions that are balanced and robust Manages and delivers all conference activities such as preparing conference materials and meeting with institutional clients regarding student progress and to make recommendations for academic growth Selects and hires teachers, ensuring that all new staff meet Sylvan hiring standards Ensures that all teachers are trained and certified to deliver Sylvan programs in schools Schedules and manages teaching staff to meet contract needs and to control labor costs Partners with the Director of Marketing and Strategic Relationships to run day-to-day operations including contract account management Motivates and develops staff by providing ongoing learning opportunities Ensures initial and ongoing progress assessments are administered according to Sylvan standards Ensures that all staff who administer assessments are trained and certified Monitors student progress to ensure goals are achieved and ongoing client needs are met Establishes and maintains ongoing communication with district stakeholders to ensure Sylvan programs meet student and client needs Will also be required to make school visits, establish and maintain relationships with schools for partnership and marketing purposes KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Bachelor's Degree State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired) preferred Minimum of four years of teaching experience preferred Knowledge of current educational policy Previous customer service management experience preferred Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computers Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) other standard business applications Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) preferred SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop teachers/instructional staff Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proven ability to discuss and sell products and services to new and existing customers Strong organizational skills Proven project management skills Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience Ability to work collaboratively; Strong team player Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early evenings and weekends Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds Compensation package includes: Base salary of $67,200-$76,800/year Incentive pay Health care reimbursement Mileage reimbursement The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
