The Department of English at the American University of Beirut is seeking to fill a position of assistant professor in translation studies to begin August 15, 2016. Qualifications
Ph.D. by the time of appointment, in translation studies, comparative literature, or another field of literary study that reflects a clear focus on translation theories and practices. Fluent in English and Arabic, with an advanced level in at least one additional language. Experience in translation. Responsibilities
Contribute to the existing minor in translation (housed in the Department of English and the Department of Arabic and Near Eastern Languages) and to the development of a new MA in translation. Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; participate in the collegial governance of the Department and University. Maintain a teaching load of 3/2 with generous support for junior faculty research. Engage in research, teaching, and service as a member of AUB faculty. Application process
