Position: Director of Development Compensation: $110,000 to $130,000 per year; exempt position Location: Ronkonkoma, NY and travel throughout Suffolk County Hours: 37.5 hours per week Start Date: Immediately Association for Mental Health and Wellness is seeking an experienced fundraiser with a successful track- record, within a nonprofit organization with a demonstrated ability in soliciting major gifts at increasing levels. The Development Director (DD) plays a key leadership role in ensuring that MHAW fulfills its mission, accomplishes its financial goals, and is positioned for growth and sustainability. The DD will report to and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with responsibility for MHAW’s fundraising strategy by bringing structure and innovation, with responsibility for the overall fundraising strategy and program planning of major gifts, pledge drives, planned giving, fundraising events and grant procurement and management. This role will frequently represent MHAW in the community, while also nurturing a workplace culture that leverages their vision on reaching fundraising goals and inspiring a culture of philanthropy across the entire organization. The DD must be a savvy self-starter and project leader who is comfortable managing multiple projects. Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy and Leadership Oversee, proactively plan, and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, to position MHAW for growth & sustainability Partner with CEO, leadership team, and Board of Directors to develop and fulfill annual fundraising goals Mitigate identified or suspected revenue gaps and pursue strategies to generate revenue leads Monitor fundraising results and consistently report progress to the CEO; participate in Board Meetings and Committees, as requested Supervise and empower support roles to meet their goals Lead quantitative and qualitative evaluation of fundraising outcomes, resulting in data-informed strategies Collaborate with the CEO and the Board Development Committee to build and empower the Board’s capacity, consistency, and confidence in fundraising Individual Donor Development and Relations Think creatively about the annual donor stewardship plan and update it with new and meaningful ways to connect with donors Research and design strategies for increasing giving and partnerships with all major donors and funders Research and design appeals and special campaigns Oversee support staff responsible for maintaining data entry & gift processing Develop a strategy to build a pipeline of individual prospects and donors Manage Institutional Giving Lead strategy to meet annual revenue goals by ensuring MHAW has strong leads for pursuing local, regional, and national grant opportunities Managing grants: a) create and manage a grant calendar to track all upcoming applications and reports and b) submit dynamic, reader-friendly, and high-quality writing for grant proposals and reports Oversee grants through their full lifecycle. Cultivating relationships with funders, submitting proposals, ensuring proper data collection, and reporting on program results Corporate Giving Develop a comprehensive giving strategy to engage corporations in supporting MHAW’s mission & initiatives; including managing corporate volunteer opportunities Event Revenue Generation Lead the strategy and execution of creative, innovative events and giving opportunities to engage MHAWs network of individual and corporate partners Serve as primary liaison between the Board and MHAW staff to ensure active participation at all levels of the organization, where appropriate Manage staff, contractors and volunteers in event logistics and administration Communications In conjunction with the CEO develop a communications strategy to drive revenue, while actively positioning MHAW as a leader in the field person centered mental health programming Manage MHAW’s brand image by maintaining strong and consistent messaging about MHAW’s on all external-facing platforms Grow MHAW’s brand visibility through strategic communication initiatives Supervise marketing campaigns

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications 8+ years in related development role(s) A strong track record of achieving tangible fundraising outcomes Solid experience in all areas of philanthropic revenue generation including individual giving appeals, institutional giving, event management, corporate partnerships and grant management History of managing a robust portfolio of prospects and donors and moving themthrough the fundraising cycle: successfully identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donor relationships Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work autonomously; ability to manage multi-faceted projects and a capacity to perform well in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills The ability to communicate easily, respectfully, and sensitively with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds Strong follow-up and attention to detail Commitment to MHAW’s mission Growth mindset, including a dedication to continuous improvement Commitment to working collaboratively with other departments and external stakeholders Qualifications Knowledge of public and private funders in the NYC and Long Island Entrepreneurial; demonstrated track record in developing, implementing and adapting a strategy in a constantly evolving landscape Demonstrated track record in people management, including mentoring and developing a team to achieve results Demonstrated track record in working successfully with other departments to achieve goals Outstanding relationship building and management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges Technologically savvy and knowledgeable, including but not limited to, Google Suite, Team, FundEz, Microsoft Office Suite and Canva Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management or Related Field Application:
