PHYSICIAN CENTER NURSE (RN) – Gastroenterology role at Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS). Under the supervision of a Physician, provides nursing care requiring the application of basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences. The role requires knowledge, skill, and ability to provide care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patient populations. Responsibilities
Conduct assessment of patients in planning and evaluating quality patient care, considering emotional, social, and physical needs. Provide direct skilled nursing care to patients. Administer medications ordered by a licensed provider and practice the Five Rights of safe medication administration. Respond to emergency situations promptly and professionally. Maintain clinical competency and nursing skills through continuing education. Inform Physician or NP of patient symptoms, reactions, progress and other information; document in the medical record (paper and electronic) according to policies and procedures. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment; practice Universal Precautions. Participate in ongoing quality improvement and respond to data results. Demonstrate professional appearance and guest relations skills within the Professional Corporation, Health System, and community. Respect Patient Rights and maintain patient, staff and corporate confidentiality per policies. Align personal performance with LMHS Mission, Vision, Standards of Behavior and Service Goals. Requirements
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program and current licensure in the State of Ohio. Functions within the scope of practice of nursing for registered nurse as defined by the Nurse Practice Act. Maintains BCLS certification. Completes orientation to LMHS policies, nursing procedures, and techniques within assigned patient care areas. Participates in emergencies (code blue, fire, weather, disaster) as applicable. Demonstrates ability to care for young adult, adult, and geriatric patients under supervision of a licensed physician, NP, or RN. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform phlebotomy, EKG, vital signs, and various medication administration routes as applicable to the practice setting. Operates office machines and computer systems (IDX, EMR, Meditech), and demonstrates basic typing proficiency. LMHS accreditation by DNV and TJC may require annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
