Location: Chicago, Illinois (Rush Copley Medical Center, Aurora, IL). Department: Ogden - Orthopaedics. Orthopedic Lead – Advanced Practice Provider. Part of Rush University System for Health. Practice Opportunity Specifics: 10 APPs and 10 Physicians in the practice Role is 85% Clinical and 15% Administrative 4 - 10-hour days per week Rotating call 1:8-10 days including weekends/holidays Coverage at Copley Surgery Center and 2 Copley Clinics (Aurora and Yorkville) Inpatient/Outpatient responsibilities Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Clinical: Assist physicians in procedures; provide patient care management for ambulatory and inpatient care; review history, perform assessments, formulate care plans, and follow-up; order/interpret labs and imaging; perform minor procedures (dressing changes, wound care, wound vac change, suture/staple removal, incision and drainage, debridement, splinting, IV insertion, specimen collection); provide patient/family education; coordinate discharge/transfer; liaise between clinical/administrative staff; supervise orientation/training of new APPs; participate in program development and care standards; prescribe medications per Illinois regulations; participate in orthopedic educational conferences. Administrative: Coordinate APP schedule and call coverage; assist with recruitment/shadowing; onboarding of new APPs; clinical resource for staff; ensure mandatory training/licensing; supervise staff; support professional development; track attendance/hours/leave; assist with performance evaluations; collaborate with Bone and Joint Service Line Leader, Medical Director, and Practice Manager to support program growth. Experience and Qualifications
Experience:
3 years of experience as a PA or NP with 3 years in Orthopedics/Surgery preferred. Relevant clinical experience may be considered in lieu of required APP experience. Knowledge and Skills: Ability to guide/mentor/train in a team environment; collaborate with leaders across departments; understanding of clinical operations and hospital policies; excellent English communication (oral and written); strong interpersonal skills; proficient with MS Office and web browsers. Education and Licensure (NP/PA): Nurse Practitioner : Illinois RN/APN licensure; MSN/DNP with relevant specialty; ANCC or AANP certification; Surgical First Assisting (RNFA) program completion; Illinois and Federal DEA license; clinical privileges at RUMC/ROPH/RCMC as applicable; CPR/ACLS/PALS; strong communication; patient care across ages; procedural experience (suturing, casting, DME, splinting). Physician Assistant : Illinois PA licensure; accredited PA program; NCCPA certification; clinical privileges at RUMC/ROPH/RCMC; strong communication; patient care across ages; procedural experience.
