Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor II GH Reports To:

Manager of Alcohol and Drug Counselors Summary This Certified position provides individual recovery sessions, group sessions, and crisis intervention for clients in a Sober Choice section of the Golden Hall Shelter. The purpose of this environment is to support recovery and improve clients’ capacity to attain and sustain income and housing. May provide referrals to inpatient or outpatient treatment and MAT services if needed. Essential Functions AOD Assessments, individual counseling, group counseling, treatment planning, minor case management, and referrals/coordination for other appropriate services. Provides individual recovery sessions to clients and completes accompanying session documentation in the database. Prepares curriculum materials & provides group treatment sessions for clients. Completes timely clinical documentation and participates in weekly peer review and MAS meetings. Monitors client progress and modifies their treatment plans as needed. Coordinates with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers, and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services. Completes continuing education courses to maintain Counselor certification and stay up-to-date on the latest practices. Ability to function independently while also working closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care. Follows up on referrals from FJV and the community. Attends weekly individual and peer supervision. Ensures on-time completion of assigned trainings and policies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree in counseling or related field. At least 1 year of experience working with clients experiencing homelessness, low income, or at-risk population. Certified as Counselor with an accredited AOD Certificate program. Current registration with CADTP, CAADE, or CCAPP. Basic user of MS Office and electronic health record systems. CPR certified (can be obtained after hire). Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate.
