Overview

Master Swim Coach Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Master Swim Coach is responsible for the administration, coordination, and implementation of the Master Swim Workouts. Will instruct participants in accordance with the YMCA of San Diego guidelines and U.S.A. Swimming Guidelines to ensure the safety of participants and use good judgement in decision making or in potentially hazardous situations. Provide in-person support for the Master Swim program. Enforce safety rules while coaching. Prepare and execute Master Swim workouts for all levels of athletes to include elite level training. Report to work as scheduled and be prepared to coach on time. Coach athletes in swimming form and technique. Observe athletes to detect, correct and correct mistakes through positive feedback. Maintain safety of participants in the pool responding to emergencies immediately. Communicate with the Swim Team participants. Maintain Swim Team equipment and communicate with supervisor on repairs or replacements, as needed. Promote the mission goals and objectives of the YMCA. Exhibit core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at all times. Communicate in a positive and professional manner with all participants, families and community partners. Perform daily duties that ensure class setting is properly maintained, organized, and safe. Adhere to YMCA dress code including YMCA photo ID badge or name tag while working. Knowledge of PC application software Excellent verbal and written communication skills Other duties as assigned Qualifications

Highschool/GED A minimum of four (4) years’ experience required

Two (2) years of experience coaching and Two (2) years of experience in competitive swimming

Current Certification under United States Master Swimming and/or American Swimming Coaches Association Current CPR PRO/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute. Licensing, state law and our government funders are required that all staff (hybrid, remote, or onsite) within YMCA San Diego County are fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications. CPR and First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute. YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you. USD $22.64 - USD $27.17 /Hr.
