Overview

Engineering Manager, Onboard Software Test Automation. The Manager of the Onboard Software Test team leads the design, build, and scaling of automated test suites for Wayve's internal production fleet. The team ensures the reliability, performance, and safety of software running on autonomous vehicle development platforms. The internal production fleet is critical to data gathering and model experimentation, and the reliability of software directly impacts fleet reliability. You’ll collaborate with technical leads across Vehicle Software, Inference, AV Stack, and Reliability Engineering to embed automated testing into the development workflow and define a roadmap to scale safely and swiftly. Essential

A testing mindset Experience leading a software quality or test automation team, preferably in embedded systems, robotics, or hardware-integrated software environments Strong technical background in developing or maintaining scalable automated test frameworks Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering and product domains Desirable

Experience with automotive-grade or safety-adjacent systems (e.g., HIL, SIL, FMEA, hardware diagnostics) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, telemetry and observability stacks, or deployment systems for embedded software Background in autonomous systems, AV validation, or hardware-in-the-loop testing infrastructure Exposure to Python-based test orchestration, fuzz testing, or simulation tools Track record of mentoring engineers and building healthy, high-performance team cultures Deep understanding of test strategies for complex systems: unit to integration to end-to-end testing Experience working with high-performance, multi-threaded systems and low-level software (e.g., C++, Rust) Location and Availability

This is a full-time role based in Sunnyvale, CA, but is open for remote work. Wayve supports a hybrid policy combining office/workshop presence with remote work and flexible scheduling within core hours. About Wayve
