First date of posting: 7/22/2025 Last date of posting: Open Until Filled Authority: TA / OA / MTA Bus Location: East New York Division/Unit: Facilities Reports To: VP & Chief Facilities Officer Hours of Work: As Required Compensation Salary Range: $134,183 - $184,013 (Exec/1040 hay pts) Responsibilities This position is accountable for the direction and execution of the building and equipment maintenance program throughout the Department of Buses to ensure facilities functions are performed within established standards. Will be specifically responsible for directing the activities of the trades groups throughout DOB's facilities; developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures pertaining to DOB's facilities and equipment; and overseeing the day-to-day building and equipment maintenance functions in the depots, including alternative fuel facilities. Consult directly with Training staff on the development & delivery of training syllabus and programs. Additional Duties And Responsibilities Direct the repair and maintenance of DOBs facilities and equipment by effectively assigning trades personnel to specific projects. Ensure depots, other facilities and equipment remain in a “state of good repair”. Develop effective preventative maintenance programs that will result in reduced equipment downtime and safer conditions. This includes alternative fuel facilities (CNG, Hybrids, Fuel Cells, Etc.) Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures pertaining to the maintenance of DOBs facilities and equipment. Lead DOB from reactive repairs to implementing more pre-programmed work. Develop and monitor alternative strategies for facilities maintenance needs as well as replacement cycles for equipment. Research implement & monitor the effectiveness of Building Monitoring systems. Set Policy & provide direction for the day-to-day facilities and equipment maintenance functions in the depots. Direct divisions in preventive maintenance techniques and procedures. Guide divisions on the development of effective and efficient maintenance cycles. Assist operating divisions in the prioritization and effective planning or projects. Assist in the commissioning of new construction equipment. Direct programs that improve DOBs impact on the environment, implement sustainability initiatives including improved recycling, water conservation, reduce fuel consumption, reduce emissions, effectively deal with fuel spills, etc. Set-up facilities to handle the unique needs of alternative fuel facilities. Research and implement practices throughout the industry that will improve DOBs “carbon footprints”. Will have extensive dealings with labor unions on work practices and labor negotiations. Perform full range of labor relations activities. Ensure employee’s random drug testing in closely monitored and implemented. Assist in the development of training syllabus and ensure employee training meets DOB’s needs. Education And Experience A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field and twelve (12) years of full-time related experience, at least five (5) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements. Desired Skills Knowledge of construction management and engineering principles. Basic knowledge of all trade specialties. Knowledge of depot operations and NYCT rules, regulations, and procedures. Must have excellent supervisory skills Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time In-depth knowledge of alternative fuels and sustainability initiatives.
