Position: Senior Machine Learning Engineer Location: Falls Church, VA Project Duration: 12 months w/ possibility of extension or conversion Rate: Negotiable Based on Experience Security Clearance: Top Secret Clearance Required Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join a high-impact team developing operational AI applications for secure cloud and lab environments. This role involves close collaboration with data experts and subject matter specialists to build, train, and deploy machine learning models using time series data on a proprietary AI platform. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Python-based ML development, strong analytical skills, and the ability to deliver production-ready solutions in a secure, mission-critical setting. Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with data and domain experts to understand, validate, and apply business insights and data effectively. Train, validate, and deploy machine learning pipelines using time series data. Engineer and promote candidate models to production based on performance thresholds. Develop AI-based applications using the Customer's proprietary AI platform after onboarding. Troubleshoot, test, and enhance AI applications based on user feedback. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in deployed applications. Manage individual project deliverables and timelines. Write clear documentation and specifications for models and applications. Communicate methodologies, experiments, and findings in a clear, actionable manner. Operate effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment. Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in data science and machine learning using Python. Proficiency in statistical analysis, model evaluation, and feature engineering. Strong experience with numpy, pandas, and Jupyter Notebooks. Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in applied environments. Active TS clearance required to start. Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field. Strong foundation in mathematics: linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics. Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn. Familiarity with AI agent frameworks and modern DevOps tools (Git, CI/CD). Experience with model performance analysis and optimization. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Important Notes:

This is not a data analytics role (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI). This is not an ETL or SQL-focused role. This is not a low-TRL R&D prototyping role. Use of AI LLMs is not permitted during coding screens.
