SUMMARY

As an

Information Security Automation Intern

at Firefly, you will play a critical role in advancing our automation journey. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and optimizing scripts and workflows to automate processes related to security tools, compliance activities, and integrations with various applications. You will work closely with the Information Security to streamline operations, reduce manual workloads, and enhance security tool efficiency through automation.

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced technical skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to Firefly's security posture. You will gain hands-on experience in scripting, API integrations, and security tool automation under the mentorship of experienced professionals. This role is ideal for someone passionate about leveraging programming and automation to improve security processes and compliance initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain automation scripts in

Python ,

Bash , and/or other scripting languages to support security tools and compliance workflows. Integrate security tools with applications using

REST APIs , improving data exchange and process efficiency. Assist in creating and deploying automated processes for vulnerability management, patch management, and compliance reporting. Research, design, and document reusable automation workflows that align with organizational security goals. Assist in automating compliance tasks for standards like

NIST, ISO 27001 ,

SOC 2 , and regulatory frameworks. Support the development of custom scripts to monitor and respond to security events. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand existing workflows and identify opportunities for automation. Maintain accurate documentation for scripts, integrations, and automation workflows. Conduct proof-of-concept testing for new automation technologies or methodologies. QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Current enrollment in (or recent graduate of) a

BS or MS program

in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field. Experience with programming/scripting languages such as

Python ,

Bash, and PowerShell Solid understanding of

REST API

concepts, including GET/POST methods, authentication (OAuth, API keys), and JSON parsing. A strong interest in security automation and improving operational efficiency. Knowledge of version control systems like

Git . Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work in a collaborative team environment. Desired:

Familiarity with common security and compliance frameworks (e.g.,

NIST ,

SOC 2 ). Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g.,

TCP/IP ,

DNS ). Experience with cloud security tools and automation (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions). Hands-on experience working with security tools such as SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, or endpoint detection platforms. Exposure to configuration management tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies. Certifications such as

CompTIA Security+

or

CompTIA Network+ .
