Design, implement, and maintain platform software that enables communication between physical game cabinets and networked backend services. Develop and integrate modules for software updates, security, reporting, and real-time game data exchange. Demonstrate a strong understanding of hardware interfaces, network protocols, and distributed system design. Collaborate with hardware, network, and game development teams to ensure seamless end-to-end system operation. Provide technical leadership in scalable architecture, system reliability, and performance optimization. Contribute to the design and implementation of backend services using .NET and related web technologies. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software engineering and system integration. Create and maintain technical documentation for platform features, APIs, and integration points. Stay current with emerging technologies relevant to platform and distributed systems development. Influence the direction of platform modernization and contribute to long-term architectural strategy. Take ownership of mission-critical components and drive innovation across the platform. Help shape a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture focused on excellence and growth. Qualifications
Training and/or Experience : 5+ years of professional experience in software/platform development. Experience integrating software with hardware and networked systems. Experience with distributed systems, backend services, and scalable architectures. Gaming industry experience is preferred, but not required. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities : Proficient in C# (required), with working knowledge of C++ and .NET backend/web components. Strong understanding of object-oriented design, system integration, and network protocols (TCP/IP, REST, WebSockets, etc.). Familiarity with Windows programming environments, Visual Studio, and version control systems. Experience with security, software update mechanisms, and messaging or reporting systems is a plus. Enjoy working in a creative environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required. Location, Relocation & Work Arrangement
Our studio is located in
Raleigh, North Carolina . We’re offering a lump sum payment to assist with relocation for out-of-state candidates. This role requires full-time on-site presence, with plans to move to a hybrid structure as the studio matures. Equal Opportunity
