Overview

Flight Operations Engineer II - Booster at Blue Origin. This role is part of the New Shepard program. The position is based in Van Horn, TX with regular travel (approximately 25%) to Kent, WA for training and team integration. Responsibilities

Develop proficiency in operating mechanical, fluid, and avionics systems toward certification as a Booster Controller for test and launch of the New Shepard rocket. Serve as a flight controller on launch day for high-cadence, high-consequence operations, including simultaneous loading of propellants and related fluids. Respond to off-nominal scenarios, take appropriate actions to maintain safety, and help lead anomaly resolution. Operate Booster systems during vehicle testing and pre-launch activities (vehicle checkouts, mission simulations, etc.). Develop and support procedure updates for use across all phases of operation. Support control console human-machine interface upgrades. Support safety activities by contributing to process and documentation improvements. Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree in engineering or relevant experience. Minimum 3 years of experience as an operator or flight controller, including time on console or in a control room, with familiarity with radio/voice loop communication protocols. Minimum 2 years of direct experience with complex vehicle preparations, testing, or similar hands-on work. Strong ability and desire to understand sophisticated systems, investigate challenges, and work in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to established protocols. Ability to perform well in time-critical scenarios while maintaining a calming presence under pressure. Strong digital literacy and ability to learn new software tools. Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating pneumatic and electronics/control systems. Experience coding simple software programs or algorithms. Familiarity with aerospace vehicle pressure systems and structural manufacturing technologies. Experience leading teams as an Operator, Test Conductor, or Test Engineer. Experience developing, writing, and updating operating or test procedures. Compensation

WA applicants: $96,310.00–$134,833.65 Other Site Ranges
