As the Grants Accounting Manager, you will drive the financial stewardship of the Port’s portfolio of Federal, State, and Local grant programs. You will manage the complete lifecycle of grants, from application to close-out. You will also lead a team of Grant Accountants and foster collaboration across various departments and hierarchical levels within the organization to ensure cohesive and compliant grant management.

You will mentor and oversee Grant Accountants and direct reports, fostering expertise in grant accounting practices such as journal entries, cost allocation, and month-end closing. You will also set performance goals, conduct coaching sessions, and cultivate a collaborative, accountability-driven team culture focused on financial accuracy. You will manage grant receivables, revenues, drawdowns, and forecasting, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and ledger postings. You will integrate awards into the annual budget, process journal entries, and reconcile eligible expenditures monthly to the general ledger. You will be responsible for developing, documenting, and updating Port-wide accounting policies related to grants and Passenger Facility Charges (PFCs). You will oversee the preparation and submission of financial and performance reports including the annual SEFA (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards), prepare ad-hoc analyses, and coordinate with external auditors regarding the Port’s Single Audit. You will establish and document robust internal accounting controls to safeguard public funds, including approval workflows and segregation of duties. You will design, implement, and maintain a grants tracking database integrated with the organization’s accounting system. You will develop and deliver workshops, job aids, and resource materials on grant management, compliance, and reporting best practices. You will provide ongoing technical assistance, coaching, and system support to program and project managers, enhancing organizational grant administration capabilities. Who you are: Experienced – You have five (5) years of Accounting/Financial management experience including responsibility for accounting operations and systems related to assets management, grant administration, and delivery of accounting or financial systems. Certifications – You are an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Desired – We hope you have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics and/or business administration. Expertise – You effectively apply Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) or Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards with ease and have a solid understanding of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200). What else you need to know: Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management’s discretion. Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment.
