Overview
KBR is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance as required. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration for the Air Force’s Space and Missiles System Center, supporting the acquisition of secure, survivable military satellite communications. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team collaborating with government civilians, contractors, and USAF personnel to define the next generation of space communication systems and support Space Flight Worthiness certification. Work will involve supporting Systems Engineering & Integration activities, leading or supporting working groups, and identifying risks and requirements gaps. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to national security by designing and integrating complex space and ground communications systems. Key Responsibilities
Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders; prepare ESOH documents and provide system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification. Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents. Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation related to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, safety assessments, and advise the government team. Perform safety risk assessments in accordance with MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance; prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or further mitigation. Prepare documents including but not limited to PESHE, Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan (SDAR/EOLP) for space vehicles, and Environmental Analysis for ground systems. Prepare and support the System Safety elements of space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification. Collaborate with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force. Qualifications
Required: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required. BS in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science. 4+ years of experience in systems engineering. 1+ years of experience in Systems Safety engineering, including System Safety practices, techniques, and procedures; experience with System Safety military standards and regulations. Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers. Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse personnel in a dynamic team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Desired: MS in a technical field (engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science). Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP). Knowledge of Jira and Confluence. Experience with MILSATCOM programs (e.g., AEHF, EPS, WGS, FAB-T). Experience with military and DoD civilian clients; familiarity with government space systems programs. Experience on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract. Active Secret Clearance or higher. Work Environment

Estimated base compensation:
$120,000 - $150,000 in California. The offered rate will be based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and internal parity. About KBR
