Overview Safety Director — Commercial Construction Safety Director in the Atlanta area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs to ensure the highest standards of workplace safety across commercial construction projects. This role requires a proactive leader with a deep understanding of construction safety regulations, a commitment to fostering a culture of safety, and the ability to collaborate with teams to achieve compliance and excellence in safety performance.

Responsibilities

Safety Program Development: Design and implement company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs tailored to commercial construction projects. Conduct regular assessments and updates of safety programs to align with industry standards and regulations.

Develop and document safety policies and training programs for commercial construction.

Regularly review and update safety programs to stay compliant with regulations.

Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all construction activities comply with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training for employees, subcontractors, and management. Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability through ongoing communication and engagement.

Incident Management: Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Maintain detailed records of safety incidents and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Team Collaboration: Partner with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to integrate safety practices into daily operations. Provide leadership and support to ensure safety measures are effectively implemented and maintained.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).

Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably in commercial construction.

Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations. OSHA 500/510 preferred.

Proven ability to lead and manage safety programs across multiple sites.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.

Certification(s) such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or equivalent are highly desirable.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software tools.
