General Position Summary The Systems Engineer (SE) is responsible for designing and implementing information systems that will adequately support the enterprise infrastructure of the organization. Analyzes system requirements and defines system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking protocols. The SE diagnoses problems and provides recommendations for improvement on existing and new systems.

Primary Responsibilities
Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
Maintain and develop new security, backup, and redundancy strategies
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers or vendors to implement those fixes
Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
Identify shortcomings and gaps in current infrastructure
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
Lead and contribute to solution evaluation efforts
Provide 2nd and 3rd level support to employees and clients
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Contribute to the success of annual industry IT and security audits and questionnaires
Ensure all systems are up to date and patched with the latest security updates

Install, configure, and maintain servers and applications
Windows 10, Windows Server NT through 2019
Active Directory and GPO administration
SQL Server 2005 to 2019 Database administration, backup and restore
RedHat and Ubuntu - Apache and MySQL administration, backup and restore
Deploy, configure, and maintain Office 365 infrastructure
O365 administration, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Intune, etc
Install, configure and maintain networking infrastructure
Cisco routers
HP Procurve and Aruba network switches
Brocade fiber switches
ISP internet and intranet point to point links
Knowledge of networking concepts, DNS and DHCP

Physical Requirements The work is of an intellectual nature. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to stand and sit for prolonged periods. Specific vision abilities required include close and medium distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal sounds, distinguish sound as voice and communicate through human speech. This position requires the ability to operate a keyboard, computer mouse, telephone, fax, copier, writing tools, and other standard office equipment. On an occasion, an employee will be asked to lift items weighing up to 35 lbs.
