Component Test Engineer, Cameras & Wipers – Tesla What To Expect
This person will work as a member of Tesla’s Engineering Test Team to support component and system level testing of various vehicle systems from concept through program release. This role involves working under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines. Multiple roles are open, including positions in camera integration, closures, and interiors testing. What You'll Do
Conduct hands-on component and system level R&D: characterization, reliability, and durability testing Work with reliability and design engineers to support Design Validation Plan (DVP) development and lead test planning activities (test scheduling, prioritization, specifications, etc.) Develop test fixtures using CAD and coordinate fixture fabrication with in-house or external labs Perform detailed inspections (torque checks, crack checks, CAN signal review, etc.) to identify and root cause failures Write scripts to automate testing Conduct data acquisition and instrumentation of sensors (load cells, strain gages, LVDTs, etc.) Investigate test failures, analyze post-process data, and prepare detailed test reports for clear communication of results Collaborate with test technicians, instrumentation, CAE, reliability and design teams Maintain a clean and organized workspace in a fast-paced environment What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience Strong engineering fundamentals Test experience from school projects, internships, or other relevant experience Hands-on mindset with curiosity to understand why something doesn’t work Experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems Experience with sensors (load cells, strain gages, LVDTs, etc.) and data acquisition systems (e.g., National Instruments, Dewesoft) Experience with CAD and fixture design (CATIA is a plus) Experience with programming (Python a plus), LabVIEW and CAN communication for test automation Benefits

$80,000 - $174,000 annual salary plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary based on factors including location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Details of participation in benefit plans will be provided with an offer. Additional Details
