Responsibilities
Lead automation and controls design across all project phases. Deliver PLC/HMI programming, batch/MES, server, and virtualization solutions. Prepare and review controls deliverables (I/O lists, narratives, hardware design, panel layouts, device plans). Specify, procure, and manage control panels/equipment, including FAT oversight. Review P&IDs with process engineers to define controls scope. Lead commissioning/start-up activities and resolve field design issues. Estimate and manage project budgets, schedules, and progress. Develop and maintain client relationships, support business development efforts. Mentor and guide junior engineers/designers; assist in resource allocation. Ensure compliance with safety, quality standards, and applicable codes (NFPA, ISA, IEC, IEEE, UL508A). Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program. 7+ years of electrical/automation engineering experience (EPC project experience preferred). Strong knowledge of automation platforms (Rockwell, Siemens; others a plus). Proficiency with SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Ignition); MES experience a plus. Skilled in instrumentation, process safety, and machine safety standards (ISA/IEC 61511, ISO13849). Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel up to 30% for site work, commissioning, and client engagements. Must have or be able to obtain TWIC card. PlantPAX, PackML, SIS/SIF design, and risk assessment tools (SISTEMA, BatchSIM, PlantSIM). Business development, client-facing leadership, and proposal preparation.
