Overview
SciTec is a dynamic small business delivering advanced sensor data processing technologies and scientific instrumentation capabilities to support National Security and Defense. We work with customers across the Department of Defense and U.S. Government to build innovative tools for world-class data exploitation capabilities. This is an immediate opportunity for a Chief Engineer to support programs delivering Next-Generation Missile Warning software, focusing on end-to-end software processing of Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) sensor data for Missile Warning, Missile Defense, Battlespace Awareness, and Technical Intelligence. The role involves leading engineering processes in a large Agile software development program and providing technical leadership to development teams, including subcontractors, to ensure work products meet program requirements and security standards. Responsibilities
Leadership: Lead and oversee all technical aspects of the OPIR framework system design, development, integration, testing, and deployment. Architect and design systems: Define the end-to-end data processing architecture from raw data ingestion to product delivery with a focus on scalability, security, and performance. Establish standards: Set technical standards and processes for data handling, quality, and integrity to ensure compliance with mission and regulatory requirements. Technical oversight: Support engineering review boards and provide technical direction to ensure the integrity of deliverables and the overall system. Communication: Serve as the primary technical interface between the engineering team, program management, senior leadership, and external customers; present complex technical concepts and project status clearly. Risk management: Identify, mitigate, and resolve technical risks and problems. Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering innovation and high-quality deliverables. Quality and performance: Ensure all system components meet operational, reliability, security, and performance requirements. Government liaison: Serve as the principal technical liaison between the program and government program offices. Other duties as assigned. Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline; Master\'s or PhD preferred. Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting, specifically in OPIR systems. Proven track record of leading complex systems engineering projects and cross-functional teams. Experience with government standards and frameworks such as DoD, NIST, and ICD requirements. Secret Security clearance is mandatory. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred qualifications
Domain experience with remote sensor systems or ground architectures, especially OPIR sensor processing. Experience supporting systems engineering programs in defense and aerospace fields. Experience with Agile software development methods. Familiarity with the Earned Value Management System. Active TS/SCI Security clearance.
