Overview
Swift is looking for an aerospace systems engineer to work primarily on Swift's HALE project. You\'ll be tasked with learning and owning the airframe design, be familiar with the analysis of it, and the specific manufacturing process for all of the ultra-light parts. We need the candidate to be competent with RC/aircraft powertrain and solar power systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading the design of the next generation HALE as technological advances allow Swift to upgrade components and the aircraft. Salary
Salary:
$115,000 to $130,000 Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage the airframe design of current and future iterations of Swift\'s High-Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) aircraft. Oversee quality control and manufacturing processes for R&D composite airframes. Conduct parametric studies to analyze and optimize in-flight performance metrics, including: Power consumption and solar power collection Reynolds number effects at altitude Solar incidence and aerodynamic efficiency Climb and descent capabilities Participate in flight testing and validation, with travel required up to 20% annually. Working Conditions
Primarily office-based, with occasional work in a shop or hangar environment. Evening or weekend work may be required during project deadlines or flight testing. Up to 20% domestic travel for flight operations and on-site integration support. Primarily office environment limited time in a shop environment. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected. Out-of-town travel is required for approximately 20% of the year. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field (Master\'s preferred), or equivalent industry experience (8+ years) in aerodynamics, structures, and systems analysis. Hands-on experience with advanced composite materials. Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing methods, tooling techniques, and structural behavior of composites. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MATLAB/Simulink. Practical experience with composite manufacturing techniques and materials. Proficient in battery-powered aircraft powertrain systems. Familiarity with solar-powered systems or solar-integrated robotics. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software. Benefits
