Job Summary
As a Level 3 IP Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design, implementation, and support of scalable IP transport networks. This position requires a deep understanding of routing protocols, network performance, and service availability across enterprise and carrier-grade environments. You will be responsible for resolving complex issues, leading optimization efforts, and driving automation and documentation practices to ensure reliable and secure operations. This role is ideal for experienced engineers ready to take ownership of critical infrastructure and collaborate with architecture, operations, and NOC teams to ensure end-to-end network performance and reliability. Responsibilities
Design and validate Layer 3 network topologies, addressing schemes, and route policies. Lead troubleshooting of routing issues involving BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and multicast. Monitor network health using telemetry, SNMP, and flow-based tools; respond to anomalies. Implement change requests, maintenance windows, and upgrades with minimal service impact. Automate recurring network tasks (e.g., provisioning, config backups, audits) using Python, Ansible, or other tools. Collaborate with IP architects and security teams to align on policies, segmentation, and access control. Participate in capacity planning, traffic analysis, and latency optimization efforts. Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and SOPs for internal use. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support network integration for new services or infrastructure rollouts. Qualifications
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related discipline. 6+ years of experience in IP networking and infrastructure support, with at least 4 years in reliability-focused roles. Technical Expertise Expert-level knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) and transport protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP). Proficient in infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Python scripting). Experience managing observability platforms (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, SNMP traps). Strong familiarity with network design principles, IP addressing schemes, NAT, ACLs, and traffic engineering. Experience with hybrid infrastructure (on-prem + cloud), microservice architectures, and SDN. Certifications such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE, or equivalent. Strong documentation and cross-team leadership skills; able to translate technical needs to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with CI/CD workflows, GitOps, or containerized networking (CNI, service mesh).
