Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a
Tooling Engineer
in Torrance, California. HFS designs and manufactures aerospace fasteners, latches, fittings and installation tools used across aircraft, engines, turbines, automobiles and related equipment. Our team is the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners.
Responsibilities
Designs a wide variety of tools, fixtures and components, including cutting and forming tools. Prepare drawings, change notices, specifications and inspection standards.
Verify and enhance product performance through layout, stress analysis and testing.
Investigate manufacturing problems and recommend corrective action.
Interact with manufacturing, Tool Prep, tool vendors, inspection and other department supervisors or managers to solve and correct problems.
Recommend new tool or fixture materials to improve quantity and quality and to reduce costs.
Develop and maintain Tool Design and Drawing Standards.
Study specifications and resolve design problems related to material characteristics, tolerances, service requirements, procedures and tool costs.
Modify tool designs based on trial or production data to improve life or performance.
Configure and maintain ePDM, vault and SolidWorks.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineering degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering from an accredited institution
5+ years designing tooling or fixtures
Proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Experience in a metal forming industry
Experience with tooling for CNC machines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Team player with the ability to interact effectively in a manufacturing environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Computer skills: Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD and SolidWorks)
Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Benefits/Salary The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401k matching, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$105,000.00 per year.
