Overview

The Director of Production is responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end production processes for multiple product categories including footwear, handbags, jewelry, watches, home textiles, luggage, and personal care. This leadership role ensures that all products are developed and manufactured efficiently, meeting the company’s quality standards, timelines, and cost targets. The Director of Production works closely with cross-functional teams including design, merchandising, sourcing, and logistics, and leads a team of 4-5 direct reports to optimize production operations and achieve business objectives. Key Responsibilities

Production Management:

Oversee the production lifecycle for footwear, handbags, jewelry, watches, luggage, home textiles, and personal care, ensuring products meet design specifications, quality standards, and cost objectives. Manage production timelines, ensuring all products are delivered on time, within budget, and meet retailer or customer expectations. Collaborate with the sourcing team to negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers to secure favorable terms, including lead times, pricing, and quality. Address any production-related issues, including delays, quality concerns, or supply chain disruptions, and develop solutions to mitigate risks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner closely with design, merchandising, and product development teams to translate creative concepts into viable production plans. Ensure alignment between product development and production, facilitating smooth transitions from design prototypes to final manufacturing. Work with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure efficient inventory management, including delivery timelines, shipping methods, and distribution processes. Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to ensure products are produced in quantities aligned with customer demand forecasts.

Vendor & Supplier Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring consistent communication and performance expectations. Evaluate vendor performance, lead regular reviews, and ensure compliance with company standards for quality, cost, and delivery. Stay updated on global production trends, new manufacturing technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance:

Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure all products meet the company's standards and regulatory requirements for each category. Address and resolve any production issues, such as defects or non-compliance, in collaboration with vendors and internal teams. Ensure all products meet consumer safety regulations, especially for categories like jewelry and personal care.

Cost & Efficiency Optimization:

Develop strategies to optimize production costs while maintaining high-quality standards. Continuously seek opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce lead times, and manage materials and labor costs effectively. Oversee production budgets, monitor expenses, and provide cost analyses for upper management.

Team Leadership & Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production managers and coordinators, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide clear guidance, set performance goals, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance evaluations, offer feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development within the team. Ensure alignment between the production team and cross-functional departments to achieve business objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field 8+ years of experience in production management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple product categories such as footwear, handbags, jewelry, or related industries. Experience with global sourcing and managing relationships with overseas manufacturers. Deep understanding of quality control and compliance, especially in categories like jewelry and personal care. Proven track record in optimizing production operations, managing costs, and delivering products on time. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and experience managing complex production challenges. What We Offer

The anticipated base salary is

$150k - $180k

annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, internal equity, and location.
