Overview
The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and consultants for conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements; prepare and administer grants and give professional advice on landscape matters. Examples of Job Duties
Organize and oversee the landscape design and layout of parks, recreational areas, roadway medians and pedestrian ways. Plan, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of professional City and contract staff. Perform professional landscape architectural work including preparing landscape plans, coordinating master plan development, performing park planning, and preparing related specifications, contracts, and cost estimates. Recommend design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City. Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Horticulture, or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred. Experience Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in landscape architecture, park planning, or park management. Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements Possession of a valid Landscape Architect license issued by the State of California is required. This position requires the ability to travel independently to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, therefore a valid Class C California Driver’s License is required at time of appointment.
