Senior Design Engineer . This position has responsibility for tire and rim components for Medium and Large Wheel Loaders and Articulated Trucks, including all design, quality, and new product introduction (NPI) activities. But more than that, this role is unique because it requires ongoing collaboration between Caterpillar and our global suppliers, Caterpillar facilities, customers, dealers and procurement teams. What You Will Do Evaluate tire and rim design concepts to meet Caterpillar product requirements; responsible for design and engineering release of new components; act as tire and rim representative for machine NPI programs Collaborate significantly with purchasing, suppliers, and product groups on new product development and product quality performance. Perform regular engineering maintenance such as specifications and prints and data clean-up Answer questions from Caterpillar dealers and customers regarding technical specifications and customer concerns Support all product group initiatives including CPI, quality, warranty, and cost reduction projects. Responsible for the Tire and Rim long-term strategy for each of the specific products, ensure all NPI (New Product Introduction) goals are prioritized and aligned between the Product Groups and Tire/Rim Team. What You Will Have (Basic Qualifications) Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Materials Science curriculum OR equivalent engineering job related experience. Analytical Thinking: Excellent analytical skills and the ability to complete complex projects. Requires a self-starter with strong technical skills. Effective Communication: Must have the ability to communicate technical information effectively with non-engineering team members. Technical Excellence: Experience with the new product introduction (NPI) or advanced product and quality planning (APQP) process; knowledge of product testing/validation processes.
