Job Title : Component Engineer 2 Position Description : Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Component Engineer 2 opportunity with our client located in Sunnyvale, CA.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and leading metrics to measure real improvement and judge required intervention or change at the supplier or in a commodity, which include but are not limited to VR, SC, R, and SCAR metrics.
Managing deliverables, representing the metrics to leadership, and being accountable for required deliverables.
Work with fellow suppliers' engineers to complete the part production qualification process (PPQP), delivering on spFMEA, Special Process Validations, Process capability, MSA, capacity analysis, and FAIR.
Perform DFM by engaging suppliers early in the development cycle to provide feedback on manufacturability improvements in the designs on an as-needed basis.
Lead and resolve quality issues at suppliers through in-depth root cause and corrective actions utilizing SCARs and SCRs (Supplier Change requests) processes.
Monitor supplier performance and initiate improvement activities.
Drive suppliers to continually improve their business and manufacturing process performance to meet the requirements for supplier excellence, including ship-to-stock programs using a collection of best practices in project management, Six Sigma, Lean, SPC, and negotiation by leading these efforts without managerial guidance at several suppliers simultaneously.
Drive changes to specifications as necessary by understanding and changing specifications and drawings, including driving the ECO process to implementation.
Monitor supplier performance after implementation of corrective actions emerging from VRs.
Develop suppliers to excel in all KPIs, including supplier-owned quality, capacity, and sub-tier management.
Own and drive to closure supplier variances from symptom through root cause analysis to corrective action, including careful CAPA/SCAR documentation. Provide technical support for failure analysis of discrepant production components, assemblies, and field returns.
Lead investigations where appropriate. Effectively prioritize and advance multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
Clearly communicate project status to key stakeholders internally and in our supply chain.
Job Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience
Minimum Bachelor's education required. (Mechanical or similar)
Root cause analysis, GD&T, FMEA, background in regulated industry (medical device, aerospace, automotive, etc).
