We are searching for a forward-thinking Director of Cloud Engineering & Operations to lead enterprise-scale cloud transformation and infrastructure modernization. This leader will oversee hybrid and multi-cloud environments, network services, and collaboration platforms, while shaping the strategy for cloud adoption and ensuring resilient, secure, and cost-efficient operations. Overview The role blends strategic planning with hands-on leadership, guiding the migration journey from assessment to execution, and driving innovation through cloud-native capabilities and DevOps practices. Key Responsibilities Analyze existing infrastructure and applications to identify cloud migration opportunities and define transformation roadmaps. Create detailed migration strategies with timelines, cost projections, and risk mitigation plans to ensure smooth execution. Promote innovation, collaboration, and self-organization while standardizing patterns and best practices for cloud adoption. Define the appropriate deployment model (Azure, AWS, or private cloud) for workloads and select optimal services to meet business needs. Engage across Agile teams to design, test, and implement solutions with emphasis on reliability, resiliency, and security. Migration & Execution Lead end-to-end migration processes including data movement, application re-architecture, and infrastructure setup. Work closely with architects, security, and engineering teams to ensure seamless delivery of cloud solutions. Embed a culture of continuous improvement and full lifecycle ownership within delivery teams. Manage workload transitions to minimize disruption to business operations, addressing technical challenges swiftly. Optimization & Transformation Continuously refine cloud infrastructure to maximize cost savings, performance, and scalability. Adopt cloud-native architectures and advanced services to enhance functionality and support innovation initiatives. Define and enforce policies around SLAs, security, disaster recovery, and data governance. Oversee incident management, service request resolution, and the integrity of asset management systems. Stakeholder & Vendor Management Direct and manage third-party resources, balancing budgets, skillsets, and delivery timelines effectively. Collaborate across IT, business, and security functions to align priorities, remediate technical debt, and ensure value delivery. Communicate progress, risks, and strategic insights to executive stakeholders throughout the transformation journey. Develop and mentor internal teams to build expertise in modern cloud practices and emerging technologies. Provide leadership reports on cloud performance, security posture, and financial impact. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience designing cloud architectures across networking, storage, compute, and security. 10+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and private-cloud deployments. 10+ years of experience leading migrations using lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and re-factoring strategies. 7+ years of experience managing technical teams. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant discipline. Knowledge of PMI process groups and modern project management methodologies. Hands-on experience in multi-cloud environments. Cloud certifications in AWS or Azure. Understanding of industry-specific operational practices such as those in energy or utilities. Familiarity with modeling, simulation, and system testing best practices.
