Durin
Overview
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Durin, you will design and implement the electrical systems that power and control the world\'s most advanced drilling rigs. Responsibilities range from control panel design and harness routing to selecting power distribution components that operate reliably in rugged conditions. Durin was founded under the belief that raw materials should not be a constraint on civilization\'s progress. We build and operate automated drill rigs to accelerate mineral discovery and become the foundation of the global supply chain. What You\'ll Do
Design electrical layouts and schematics for drilling equipment, including power distribution, controls, and instrumentation Specify and source electrical components (switchgear, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, cables) aligned with rig requirements Develop wiring diagrams, harness routings, and cabinet layouts, ensuring maintainability and compliance Coordinate with controls/software teams to integrate I/O points, safety circuits, and communication networks Perform load calculations, short-circuit/arc flash analysis, and ensure systems meet relevant codes (NEC, NFPA) Provide field support for commissioning, troubleshooting, and iterative improvements Build alongside the best engineers, explorers, and operators in the world Work directly with our internal and external customers to drive the roadmap Who You Are
Extensive experience with industrial electrical systems, panel design, and power distribution Proficiency with CAD tools for electrical design (e.g., EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical) Knowledge of PLC I/O wiring, instrumentation selection, and grounding/shielding best practices Familiarity with relevant standards (NEC, UL508A, CE) and safe working practices Comfortable working with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical and controls aspects Experience diagnosing complex electrical issues in demanding field environments Have extensive experience shipping modern, full-stack hardware Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with high stakes and quick iteration cycles Have a bias to action, take pride in your work, and care more about getting to the right solution than being right Additional Requirements
Must be willing to work from our headquarters in El Segundo Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed Compensation and Benefits
This role has a base pay range of $150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr, plus equity. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more. Durin offers 100% healthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision), all meals at headquarters, and housing assistance as part of our commitment to supporting our team. We invest heavily in our people to enable fast iteration and ownership of major initiatives from day one.
