As part of the Washington DC Uplink Operations Center you will be managing the satellite uplinks, and configuration parameters for all SiriusXM satellite audio and data services. As part of the larger Operations Team, you will be part of the largest audio entertainment company providing world class service to millions of subscribers What You’ll Do
The Lead Technician, UCC will oversee the 24/7 operations of the Uplink Control Center, ensuring consistent, high-quality broadcast delivery and swift incident response. This role manages shift personnel responsible for monitoring uplink systems, channel configurations, and conditional access services. Acting as a key liaison between operations and engineering, this individual will validate system configurations, contribute to the transition of new technologies into production, and ensure compliance through documentation and performance oversight. The Lead Technician, UCC will maintain readiness for business continuity and emergency scenarios, while fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. What You’ll Need
Associates degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent related degree; military training or equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree At least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Network/IP communication, RF system operations, Systems Administration, anomaly resolution or a combination thereof 2+ years of relevant experience in broadcast operations, network operations, or uplink/satellite systems, with 2+ years in a people leadership role Able to support a 24-hour/7-day facility; able to work holidays, weekends, and occasional overtime. This is a fixed shift position, but subject to change based on operational requirements Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, installation, patch management, and clustering Moderate understanding of Red Hat Linux Administration ,including in using and updating RHEL systems Ability to create database queries, backups, restores, configuration and monitoring of a diverse set of database environments, including Postgres, MySql Command-line and scripting skills (Power Shell, bash, python, SQL) Knowledge of with network protocols and standards, routing, encoding, encryption, multiplexing, modulation, and transmission Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Must be able to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment System Administration and IT Certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus Demonstrated ability to work across technical and non-technical teams (e.g., Engineering, Programming, IT). Familiarity with configuration management, system integration, and operational readiness processes. Excellent organizational and communication skills, with experience managing large-scale deployments or transitions Strong decision-making skills under pressure and the ability to balance short-term problem-solving with long-term planning This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As required by ITAR, to perform this position you must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee Technical Skills
