The Coordinator of Social Media will assist the Social Media Manager in managing Charlotte Hornets social media accounts and provide guidance for other Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) social media accounts (e.g., Spectrum Center, Hornets Fan Shop, Hugo the Hornet, Hornets Community, etc.) as needed. The coordinator will help in the ideation, creation, and publishing of content for all Hornets social properties. They will attend practices, shootarounds, games, and other HSE events to provide coverage for social media. The coordinator will stay updated on emerging trends in sports, pop culture, and social media, identifying opportunities to join relevant conversations. Additionally, this role is responsible for community management efforts, including responding to comments and DMs and seeking engagement opportunities with creators.

The role includes assisting in:
Ideating, creating, and publishing daily Hornets social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Storyteller, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Weibo, Threads, and emerging platforms.
Covering team and player activities, including practices, interviews, games, and shootarounds.
Collaborating with the digital team to develop timely content aligned with current trends.
Using Slate to create photo and video content.
Taking photos and editing them in Adobe Lightroom.
Assisting with influencer research, coordination, and approvals.
Creating and managing content calendars.
Leading long-form YouTube content strategy and publishing.
Planning revenue opportunities like promotions, youth programming, retail, and partnerships within the social/digital space.
Learning and applying the organization's social voice and tone for effective communication and engagement.
Developing international content for Weibo.
Clipping game highlights and TV clips for social media via WSC and AvGen.
Performing other duties as assigned by the department director.
Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
Candidates should demonstrate:
At least 2 years of professional social media experience or a comparable Bachelor's Degree in social media, journalism, English, public relations, or related fields.
Strong command of English, with attention to spelling and grammar.
Understanding of YouTube best practices, content creation, and optimization.
Knowledge of vertical video trends and best practices.
Ability to develop various content types across platforms, including videos, photos, graphics, and text posts.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and build relationships.
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Organization skills and attention to detail.
Experience in photo and video capturing; proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated, resourceful, and team-oriented.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
