The Registry Pediatric Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations on an as-needed basis, ensuring the safe preparation, distribution, and handling of medications for pediatric patients. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, this technician will
assist
in both inpatient and outpatient care areas, including support for admission/discharge processes, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and outpatient dispensing. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and familiarity with pediatric dosing and formulations. Essential Pediatric Pharmacy Technician Job Functions: Prepares IV admixtures, hyperalimentations, chemotherapy drugs, and compounded drugs according to specific department procedures
Fills patients' orders under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist
Fills and exchanges unit-dose carts and cassettes
Fills and charges interdepartmental IV and stock orders
Delivers and picks up drugs and orders per established routine (
i.e.
approximately hourly) and as necessary
Has knowledge of and is able to use the pharmaceutical balance
Communicates appropriately and effectively with patients, visitors, and all hospital personnel
Enters patient medication and treatment orders into the pharmacy computer system, which requires: A working knowledge of the pharmacy computer system
The ability to understand, recognize and respond to actual and potential drug interactions, drug allergies, and adverse reactions as
identified
by the pharmacy computer system
Maintains, stocks, and orders supplies and drugs from designated vendors,
i
n
quantities
in keeping with established directives.
Checks in, prices and puts away drug and supply orders
What we need from you: Education :
High School Diploma or equivalent Related Work Experience :
1-2
year's
hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred Licensure/Certification:
Illinois Registered Pharmacy Technician License Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Must be physically able to handle and manipulate various medication
preparation
materials (
i.e., IV and oral syringes, bottles, vials, bags, etc.) What
