MLT - $24.19-$34.70; MLS - $27.87 - $38.18, Shift differential premiums paid. Performs tests and procedures in assigned sections of the laboratory, including those requiring independent and professional judgment with minimal supervision. Independently performs qualitative and quantitative tests following established guidelines to aid in diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease. Identifies issues affecting test performance or results and uses critical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve them. May be assigned to assume duties of a lead technician. Required Qualifications

Associate degree in a science-related field with completion of a six-month clinical internship from a NAACLS-accredited Clinical Laboratory Science program or an approved alternate career path as per CLIA ’88. Registration by the ASCP as a Medical Laboratory Technician or by AMT as a Medical Laboratory Technician is required. Candidates who have completed the requirements for registration but not yet passed the exam may be hired, but must pass within 6 months of hire. Essential Functions

Adhere to Boone County Hospital Standards of Behavior, confidentiality, EMTALA, and hospital policies. Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on biological specimens for various patient ages, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Follow departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Maintain safe work practices and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards. Recognize and correct deviations from expected results using scientific principles. Provide test methodology and interpretation information to healthcare providers. Analyze quality control data, make judgments, and take actions to ensure test accuracy and precision. Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment. Work independently, organize tasks to meet deadlines, and seek guidance when needed. Assist with new instrument or procedure implementation and training. Maintain inventory and order supplies. Assist in training new staff as directed. Document variances and participate in Quality Assurance programs. Contribute to writing and revising laboratory procedures. Operate laboratory information systems and related software. Physical Activity and Visual Acuity Requirements

Constant activities include reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and standing. Frequent activities include pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and feeling. Visual requirements involve working with small parts, reading labels, and distinguishing colors. Working Conditions

Subject to chemical hazards and occupational exposure to blood or infectious materials, with OSHA compliance. Exposure to sharps and indoor environmental conditions.
