Behavior Intervention Specialist

Location: Various schools throughout the District Posting Date: June 26, 2025 Closing Date: For best consideration please apply by July 3, 2025. However, position will be open until filled. Additional Info: Seven (7) hours per day. Nine month employment. Salary Schedule: Rate of pay will be $24.13 per hour Start Date: Beginning of the 2025-26 school year. Job Summary: The principle function of an employee in this class is to provide assistance to special education students who are requiring significant and regular personal care, behavior interventions, functional life skills acquisition, and functional academics. The position assists in the implementation of a students Individual Education Plan (IEP). The position works with students who have more severe physical, emotional, and/or learning disabilities. The work is performed under the supervision of a special education teacher, classroom teacher, and the building Principal. The principle duties of this position are performed in a classroom environment and may include exposure to body fluids and some personal injury risk from student behaviors. Candidates will be billing Medicaid and attending a yearly training provided by Pocatello/Chubbuck School District Number 25. Pocatello/Chubbuck School District employees in this classification must exhibit the following qualities: The ability to work with students with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities, ability to support students one on one and small group situations. Demonstrated knowledge of effective behavioral methods. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment. Excellent organization skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work under deadlines. Maintain confidentiality of staff and students. Ability to lift up to fifty pounds and push and pull up to one hundred pounds. Have a growth mindset and not be threatened by constructive feedback. Job Qualifications: Must be highly qualified. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent AND successful completion of a minimum of 32 academic core college semester credits that will lead to a Bachelors Degree OR must pass the ETS Paraprofessional Praxis Assessment Test. Copy of transcripts must be uploaded with the application. All minimum requirements of the Habilitative Intervention Paraprofessional must be met. In addition, if the candidate is currently enrolled and is within 24 credits or equivalent, to complete their bachelors degree or higher in human services field (counseling and guidance, psychology, sociology, child development/human development, social work therapeutic recreation, marriage and family therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech language pathology/communication disorders, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy and behavioral sciences/ABA), or have completed their bachelors degree in one of the approved human services field, and are working towards meeting the experience requirement of 1,040 supervised hours (SD25 will do the supervision) All minimum requirements of Habilitative Intervention Technician must be met. In addition - if the candidate has an Idaho Instructional Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement, OR competency through one of the following: Health and Welfare approved competency checklist referenced in Medicaid provider handbook OR a minimum of 40 hours of applied behavior analysis training.
