Position is a psychiatrist located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders.
Providing psychiatric services to mentally ill inmates. Inmate patients are received into the healthcare complex from prisons throughout the state as well as county jails for the purposes of stabilization and treatment through implementation of individualized treatment plans.
Responsible for inpatient units with occasional outpatient duties as needed.
Requires on-call duties on a regularly scheduled rotating basis.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Previous experience to supervise, train or instruct other allied mental health staff is necessary. Demonstrated ability in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. Documented ability to assess and interpret laboratory results, clinical data, and information relative to the patient’s condition. Demonstrated ability to compile clear and concise notes for patient’s charts and to make oral presentations of cases in medical conferences. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
