Overview

Software Engineer Sr - GMD Weapons Systems (GWS) role with Lockheed Martin. The position involves software development and support of the Missile Defense Agency's Ground-Based Mid-course Defense (GMD) program, specifically the GMD Fire Control (GFC) suite of products developed on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) program. The selected candidate will work out of Colorado Springs, CO and primarily with the Command and Control (C2) Graphical User Interface (GUI) within a cross-functional agile scrum team. Responsibilities Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems, solving problems with ingenuity and creativity. Collaborates with software and systems engineers to determine user needs and analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions. Ensure software standards are met. Demonstrates understanding and application of software development principles; shows knowledge of related disciplines. Support advanced portions of the software development lifecycle including requirements definition, integration, and deployment. Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight. Apply systems thinking to ensure products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs. Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives. Thrive in a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or related discipline and 5 years of professional experience, or Master's Degree and 3 years of professional experience. Active U.S. DoD Security clearance at the Secret level. Experience developing software in object-oriented languages such as Ada or C++. Fundamental understanding of C++ and practical experience with UI/UX design and software design. Experience working in a Red Hat environment and with debugging software. Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical teams and leadership. Experience directly with C++ for 3+ years. Experience with Missile Defense Agency systems. Experience working in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
