Nutrition Assistant
Summary Under the supervision of the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the Nutrition Assistant performs various clerical duties relating to food production control, nutrition service, and customer service. Essential Functions: Facilitates workflow in the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Accesses H.I.S. computer system and performs many nutrition-related functions (census sheets, interface, etc.). Updates the orders in HealthTouch Diet Office System, enters diet orders and menus, and prints tray tickets prior to meal time. Picks up menus and assists patients with selections as needed on a limited number of floors. Answers the telephones and takes messages or transfers calls to the appropriate person. Record all requests for late meal trays, supplies, supplements, etc., in the phone logbook. Prints nourishment sheets, labels, and other daily reports. Prints daily food tallies and distributes them to the appropriate kitchen prep areas. Makes all necessary changes to the HealthTouch Diet Office System when new diets come through the printer. Prints menus to be passed out for the following day. Assists in training new employees on the HealthTouch Diet Office System. Uses the nutrition office communication book to identify and inform other co-workers of pertinent issues. Maintains pertinent records. Required for All Jobs: Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Does this position require Patient Care (indirect/direct)? Yes Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree, preferred but not required. Experience: Experience in the nutrition field is preferred but not required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong verbal communication, reading, and writing abilities required. Be able to interact with patients and staff congenially. Proficient in basic mathematical skills. High level of service delivery. Attention to detail. Computer proficiency.
