Regional Environmental Manager

is responsible for leading environmental compliance and permitting activities across a designated geographic area. This role ensures operational adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations, supports enterprise-wide compliance initiatives, and fosters cross-functional collaboration to maintain the highest standards of environmental stewardship.Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsibilities for Candidates Lead environmental compliance efforts across multiple facilities within the assigned area. Manage air permitting processes, including renewals, modifications, and reporting, to ensure timely and accurate compliance. Interpret complex environmental regulations and translate them into actionable operational requirements. Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments; develop, implement, and oversee corrective action plans. Direct and support facility leaders, supervisors, hourly associates, and contractors in achieving and maintaining compliance. Partner with internal teams to integrate environmental requirements into operational planning and daily execution. Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies; represent Kroger during inspections, meetings, and enforcement actions. Monitor, track, and report environmental performance metrics; recommend and implement improvements to reduce risks and enhance compliance. Develop and deliver training on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices. Stay current on evolving environmental regulations and regulatory agency expectations in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho. Qualifications for Candidates Minimum - Bachelor's Degree environmental science, engineering or related area - 8+ years environmental compliance experience - Understanding of OR, WA, AK, ID environmental agencies and evolving landscape - Demonstrated success with implementation of regulatory requirements and complex Consent Decrees -Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives -Proven ability to influence and achieve objectives through collaboration -Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills -Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and take initiative with minimal supervision -Strong organization, administrative and leadership capabilities Desired -Masters degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline -Experience in the retail, grocery, distribution, or manufacturing sectors -Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and emerging regulations related to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and refrigerant management -Demonstrated success managing multi-site environmental programs in a large, complex organization -Experience working directly with EPA Region 10 or relevant state agencies in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho -Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including use of environmental management systems or compliance tracking software #GOSourcing
