Summary
Perform a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. Work Performed
Perform tasks involving the operation of mammographic and radiographic equipment and other devices as appropriate. Position patients, using immobilization when necessary. Calculate exposure factors, assist physicians, and perform quality control functions related to mammography. Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images if needed. Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explain procedures to patients. Charge mammographic procedures and supplies in Maestro or EPIC. Provide orientation and training to new and student Mammographers. Assist in maintenance and statistical data compilation. Demonstrate proficiency in all breast imaging procedures, including interventional procedures. Monitor procedures and supply charges for completeness and accuracy. Perform other duties incidental to the work. DUHS offers career growth within Imaging services through a clinical ladder program with various steps and opportunities across the health system. Graduate or completion of a program meeting eligibility requirements for registry/certification, or current registry/certification holder. Technologists qualifying after April 28, 1999, must have at least 40 hours of documented mammography training. Experience
Level I: Must obtain ARRT certification at employment and perform at least 25 mammography exams under supervision. Must have at least 8 hours of modality-specific training before independent use. Level II: Minimum of two years' experience and at least 200 mammography exams in 24 months. Level III: Minimum of four years' experience in the specialty modality. Degrees, Licenses, Certifications
ARRT certification in radiography. ARRT advanced certification in mammography. FDA/MQSA qualification, including meeting CE requirements of at least 15 CEUs in 36 months, with at least 6 CEUs in each mammography modality used. BLS certification.
