General Maintenance Worker
The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, and general HVAC work. Major responsibilities and tasks of the position include: Test and replace electrical receptacles, switches, and fixtures Patch and paint minor holes and cracks/crevices in walls and ceilings Repair/replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets Repair/replace doors, ADA panic bars, and hardware Repair/replace floors, steps and sidewalks Grounds work such as snow and leaf removal Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery Assist with parts, material storage, and inventory Develop training programs for teammates Assist with general HVAC work Other general maintenance, housekeeping, plumbing, and electrical duties as required Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor/Manager/Lead Job specific competencies include: Experience:
Three to five years' experience in general maintenance is desired. Previous experience in an industrial setting is preferred. Basic knowledge of HVAC equipment and electrical is a plus. Skills: Must have good communication skills, have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Ability to read blueprints, building plans and schematics as required Must be able to read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification, or installation of equipment The ability to use a variety of power tools, hand tools, and meters safely Proficiency in Microsoft Products, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint Additional: Hands-on ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Comply with all policies, safety guidelines, and procedures; follow all contract specifications and maintain compliance. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures. Must have a government security clearance or ability to obtain upon hire. Education and certification required: HS Diploma or GED required. Universal Refrigerant License preferred. Physical requirements include: Exposure to dust and varying temperatures. Lifting up to 75 pounds with or without assistance. Constant walking and standing for extended periods of time. Reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing and balancing may be needed. Significant hand and finger dexterity is required. Work hour requirement: This position is full time (40 hours per week) and may include some shift work including Saturdays and Sundays. Ability to work overtime as needed. This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility.
