The PCA will be responsible for: Providing direct and indirect care for patients by assisting RNs with clinical tasks and responding to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit. Working collaboratively to provide excellent care to patients and families in the safest environment. Remotely monitor the safety of multiple patients at a time utilizing continuous virtual monitoring system Make patient assignments for the continuous virtual monitoring staff and be able to identify when a patient assignment may need to change Work collaboratively with the PCAs in the continuous virtual monitoring room to ensure the safety of the patients Be able to communicate effectively with the Nurse Administrators regarding patients on continuous virtual monitoring at both BWH and BWHF Attend all non-emergent central line placements as an observer to ensure that the provider uses sterile technique Be able to recognize breaks in sterile technique and communicate that with the physician placing the line Document and attest to observing sterile technique for central line placement in EPIC To qualify you must have: Certification as a CNA, PCT, MA, EMT or commensurate experience required, unless incumbent is a nursing student who has completed her/his fundamentals of nursing with a clinical component (clinical rotation or simulation lab). For nursing students hired as PCAs, strongly prefer nursing students enrolled in BSN programs or direct-entry Masters' programs. Nursing student who has completed her/his fundamentals of nursing with a clinical component (clinical rotation or simulation lab). For nursing students hired as PCAs, strongly prefer nursing students enrolled in BSN programs or direct-entry Masters' programs. Bi-lingual skills preferred. Prior experience in a clinical setting preferred. Phlebotomy experience preferred Knowledge of medical terminology. May not currently hold a valid nursing license.
