Senior It Asset Management Specialist
CDM Smith is seeking a Senior IT Asset Management Specialist to lead and manage all aspects of the software lifecycle, including sourcing, procurement, planning, budgeting, compliance, and auditing. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping how our organization sources, manages, and optimizes IT software and services. You'll work closely with vendors, negotiate contracts that deliver both value and performance, and ensure our teams have the technology they need to succeed. The successful final candidate will: Drive vendor partnerships: Source quotes, evaluate proposals, negotiate agreements, and place purchase orders for a wide range of IT software and services. Keep us running efficiently: Maintain and update IT asset management databases, procurement tools, and compliance systems to ensure accurate, real-time visibility. Forecast and optimize costs: Analyze trends, anticipate future IT needs, and develop budget forecasts that help us stay ahead of demand while avoiding overspend. Prepare reports and perform analysis to proactively identify savings and improvements. Provide insights that matter: Report on utilization, explain budget variances, and present forecasts to key stakeholders across the organization. Ensure compliance & reliability: Conduct audits on software licenses, take corrective actions, and manage agreement renewals to secure the best pricing and service levels. Lead and mentor: Organize departmental projects, delegate tasks, evaluate outcomes, and provide day-to-day guidance and training to team members. Explore and recommend: Research emerging IT products and services, meet with vendors, evaluate offerings, and recommend the best solutions to support our mission. Develop and implement continuous process improvements and operational efficiencies. Make an impact: Work across multiple teams to ensure technology investments deliver strong ROI and align with organizational goals. Perform other duties as required. Job Title: Software Asset Management Specialist (Hybrid Work Options) Group: COR Employment Type: Regular Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree. 5 years related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Preferred Qualifications: SAM, CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager), or SAMS (Software Asset Management Specialist) certifications preferred. Hands-on experience administering ServiceNow, particularly in SAM or ITAM modules. Led initiatives to automate software asset tracking and reporting processes. Experience managing and configuring Software Asset Management tools, such as ServiceNow SAM, Flexera, Snow License Manager, or Certero. Strong background in software license analysis, including reconciliation, entitlement tracking, and audit preparation. Demonstrated understanding of various license and subscription models, including perpetual, SaaS, volume licensing, and enterprise agreements. Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and adapt to evolving business requirements. Proficient in using enterprise procurement platforms such as Oracle or SAP for software purchasing and tracking.
